Neatly scratched into the concrete sidewalk are the names of her beloved menager: Cheyenne, Shawnee Spirit, Dakota, Apache, Cherokee, among others.

“They, especially Dakota, are my inspiration for this place,” says Janice Ford Grimes, motioning to the two-story former auto body shop just west of downtown Fort Worth.

The 20,000-square-foot combination pet spa-hotel-wellness center has been under construction for more than two years, subject to the vagaries of the economy, construction problems and Ford Grimes’ need for Spa Paws Hotel and Paws Wellness Center to be perfect.
